RAG document assistant for pharma SOPsInspect the source.

Find useful answers in approved SOPs, quality documents and technical records. Scope a knowledge assistant around citations, document versions, access boundaries and the decisions that need a person.

Plan your project

From your workflow to a working system

  1. 1Approved sources
  2. 2Retrieve & cite
  3. 3Human review

The right scope.
Built around your needs.

Start with the problem that matters. Combine the capabilities your project needs, with boundaries agreed before the build.

Approved knowledge sources

Define document owners, revisions and ingestion rules. Superseded content must not silently become the current answer.

Source-backed responses

Make citations and relevant passages inspectable, with an explicit unsupported-answer state when the evidence is insufficient.

Access-aware retrieval

Design retrieval around authenticated roles and source permissions. Public demos illustrate this behavior; they are not production access controls.

Evaluation and oversight

Test representative questions, incorrect retrieval and missing evidence before connecting an assistant to consequential workflows.

Every answer starts with a source.

A reference SOP assistant flow that separates document access, answer drafting and reviewer judgment.

REFERENCE ARCHITECTUREChoose a layer to inspect its role.

Approved library: its responsibility

Search the approved document set within the requesting user’s permissions.

What to review

Check superseded versions, access restrictions and how document changes reach the search index.

Illustrative planning model. Your architecture and deliverables are agreed during scoping.

The starting point

A team needs to locate the right procedure and revision quickly.

The approach

Retrieve passages from approved documents and show their source and version beside each answer.

What the work can produce

A knowledge-search pilot and an evaluation set of supported and unsupported questions.

Start where
your project is.

The first step depends on what is already known. These starting points help define an engagement; scope, price and timing are agreed separately.

Explore an uncertain idea

The problem is clear, but the approach is not.

  1. 1Question
  2. 2Prototype
  3. 3Decision

What you take forward

A bounded experiment, findings and a recommendation on what to validate next.

A prototype is not a production-ready service.

Deliver a defined scope

You know the workflow and can agree acceptance checks.

  1. 1Scope
  2. 2Build & review
  3. 3Handover

What you take forward

Agreed deliverables, verification evidence and operating instructions for the scoped release.

Changes to scope need an explicit decision on cost and timing.

Improve an existing system

A live system needs focused changes or ongoing care.

  1. 1Review
  2. 2Prioritize
  3. 3Release & observe

What you take forward

A prioritized backlog, reviewed changes and an agreed maintenance or support boundary.

Coverage, response targets and access are agreed per engagement.

How project pricing works

A clear path.
Through the work.

Scope and deliverables are agreed for each project. These stages guide the conversation.
  1. 1

    Define the corpus

Identify owners, data policies, permissions and the questions worth answering.

  2. 2

    Test the boundaries

Evaluate retrieval and refusals with representative source material and role combinations.

  3. 3

    Integrate with oversight

Agree on monitoring, access enforcement and human review before deployment.

Document assistants need controlled sources and evaluation

Technology is a scoping decision. These are relevant tools and building blocks to discuss against your existing systems, operating constraints and maintenance needs.

Library

Document ingestionRevision metadata

Choose supported formats and update rules around the approved document collection.

Retrieval

Source citationsRole-aware search

Scope search and answer evidence to the user’s authorized documents and the agreed revision rules.

Review

Evaluation casesHuman oversight

Choose model and deployment options after evaluating source-grounded answers and privacy requirements.

What should be checked
before handover.

Turn quality expectations into reviewable evidence. The exact checks and responsibilities belong in the project scope.

  1. Correct sources

Check that answers cite the relevant approved passage and do not silently rely on obsolete revisions.

  2. Permission boundaries

Test restricted roles, unsupported questions and missing evidence before releasing access to users.

  3. Measured limitations

Document evaluation results and escalation rules; the public synthetic demo is not a validated operational assistant.

Before
we begin.

Practical answers to help turn your idea into a scope everyone understands.

Can the assistant answer without a supporting source?

A controlled workflow should make insufficient evidence explicit, rather than inventing an answer. Evaluation must include those cases.

Can we use confidential SOPs in the public demo?

No. The demo contains synthetic SOPs and has no document upload. Private deployment and data handling are separate project decisions.

Will every employee see every document?

The intended design must enforce the source permission model during retrieval and delivery. The demo only simulates roles for illustration.

Open code. Lasting value.

Built to be understood,
adapted and improved.

Everything we build is intended to be open source. Our business is the work around the code: custom development, managed hosting and servers, support and training.

Product repositories and licences will be shared as releases take shape. No specific licence has been selected yet.

Often better together.
